Description: The game covers one of the most important battles of the Spanish Civil War, a forgotten prelude for the World War II. At the dawn of 25 July long prepared offensive of the Republican Army was launched. Two corpses crossed the river Ebro and pushed battalions of the 50 Division of the Nationalist Army to the west. Bridges were about to be built as soon as possible, to let tanks and artillery join the attack. General Franco used his bombers to destroy the bridges and the supply routes. Initial successes of the attackers changed soon into heavy fights for each strengthened position, while Nationalists forces were growing stronger with every day. International Brigades’ attacks on Gandesa turned out into the biggest battle of this campaign. In this game speed of the attack is essential, along with proper use of the bridges – thanks to them the Republican player may use more of the heavy units. But every passing day works for the general Franco’s forces.
