Hello from Prague in the Czech Republic.

I am British but I live here in Prague. I thought I would say hello :)

I have also posted a message on a Czech boardgamers forum about this forum. So maybe some Czech players will come here.

I am from a group of figure gamers here in Prague. This is our website - http://www.phwg.wz.cz/

Are there any Polish figure gamers here? Are there any Polish figure gamers websites or forums?

I wish you luck with your forum. I think it would be a good idea if you made a guide for people who can't speak Polish about how to register and log in.

Thanks for your advice hwiccee. I think I will create such a guide this week.

For figure games I am not sure. This forum is for players kicking board strategic games preferably, but I think some may also play figure games as well. I used to, but now my only love are those tiny counters.... 8)

And my wife of course

r1omen: Yes I guessed you were mainly boardgamers. My group here is mainly figures gamers but we do also play simpler boardgames - Axis and Allies, some Dogfighting games, etc. There are some pictures of our figure games on our website.

When I lived in Britain I played more boardgames - Squad Leader and other Avalon Hill games.

Here in Prague there is a club where people play Diplomacy, Axis and Allies and similar games. There is also a group of players who play more serious boardgames. This group has some Polish boardgames I think. They are about WW1 but I can not remember what they are called.

We have two games about WW1 in Poland: "Tannenberg 1914" and "Last War of Emperor".

Adam II: Yes I think that these are them. Certainly I remember Tannenburg. Do the same company make other games? I think that my Czech friend also has some other games from the same company - maybe from the Russian-Polish war after WW1?

The games all look very good. The Czech players can understand enough of the Polish to play. But my Czech is very bad and with Polish I have no chance :(

We have also "Year 1920" and "Warsaw 1920" in Poland.
But WW1 and Polish-Soviet War 1920 are different wars for me.

About english varsions of polish games: I have seen some gemes tagged with "English rules inside" on this site.

hwiccee: My english is more poor then Your czech I think.

Yes I think that my friendsmust have one of the games you mention. No of course WW1 and Soviet-Poland are different wars. I meant they have 2 WW1 games (the ones you mentioned I think) and 1 war of 1920 game - 3 games in total :)

Do you think I could get the rules for these games in English from the company that sells them? Do you have a webpage or e-mail address for these games?

No your English is excellent. I am afraid my Czech is very bad :( Remember I am British and we are very bad at learning languages. Polish and Czech people are very good at languages.

I'm afraid that this company does not exist now. You can find support on this forum, I suppose. Site www.translate.pl maybe usefull too.

I think that the game about The I WW could be "Paths of Glory"

This game is popular in Western Europe and mainly in USA.

Of course it is well known in Poland too, but we much more prefer hex systems, than point to point.

Mam nadzieję, że to jest zrozumiałe o co mi tutaj chodziło.

GLADKY: The game is in Polish. My friend who has the game is Czech and I don't think he has been to the west. But he used to live in Poland. So I it is the Polish game.

Is 'Path to Glory' good?

Artur: It is the same with me - I can understand it all but not the last sentence - but then I can't understand Polish :D

I put 'Mam nadzieję, że to jest zrozumiałe o co mi tutaj chodziło' into an online translator and it translated it as -

'Mum < beguile > < have > hope < stuff >, that here there is intelligible (apprehended) walk about that me.'

This is worse than Polish! :D

Can you translate for me? What does it say?

Yes, it is a good game. It is strategic level game, so many things are simplified to make game playable. You can play I WW in one evening :) .

I have never heard of this game before, but I suppose I'm not all-knowing guy...

Where can I buy it?
